Floataway Cafe
Located just north of the Virginia Highlands towards Emory, this restaurant will take your breath away and provide a fantastic evening-this is not the place you take the girl you met at Moondogs, but where you decide whether or not she is right for you. My all time favorite restaurant in the city, pricey but well-worth it-it is fine-dining, with some of the best meats and local produce-always a winning choice.

Pozole
From the owners of Wysteria comes Pozole, a cool little Mexican restaurant but it is currently very popular, which is why you are hearing about it, but also expect a crowd...not suggested for large crowds. Located right in the heart of the Highlands right behind the Dark Horse. Great outdoor patio if on a nice night you are lucky enough to grab an outdoor table.

LaTavola
Very cool Italian restaurant with the little neighborhood feel right in the heart of the highlands with plenty of places to go afterward. Great wine list and dessert menu. For a more intimate evening, request a spot on the back patio-LaTavola does accept reservations-so call ahead so she don't have to wait in those heels.

Fontaine's
Fontaine's is a Virginia Highlands favorite where good food, good drink and good people come together. Guests can belly up to the bar, grab a seat in a cozy booth or grab a spot at the oyster bar and enjoy the freshest oysters in Atlanta. The patio provides covered seating beneath the stars for great seafood and cool cocktails.

Highland Tap
Highland Tap is a haven for local Atlantans with a dimly lit, warm and clubby atmosphere that offers a timeless venue for any occasion. Located in the heart of Virginia-Highland, Highland Tap has been the only steakhouse in this historic neighborhood since 1989. What began as a popular gathering place for neighbors, the Tap has become a destination restaurant for travelers and local diners as well.

Great scene overall from awesome tapas to a full bar and a fantastic bar scene on the weekends-is not the hot spot during the week but can provide a great time on a Friday or Saturday.

Harry and Sons
Really? They made a sushi place named Harry and Sons? Yep, you're damn right they did, and guess what, it's great sushi. Full bar and perfect for a first date, or a beginning to a night of drinking or just hanging out in the highlands. Park once for $5 around the corner and venture from Harry and Sons to all the bars. Located next to Limerick Junction and Blind Willie's (blues)- always good for a reasonable price. Be prepared to wait 15 for an available table.

Manuel's Tavern
Best Democratic bar/restaurant you could ever go to-just don't tell anyone if you are a republican-well, maybe you already know this. Anyway, Manuels is Atlanta's best original bar-opened in 1956 and still going strong with a great smell and aura. Not the wildest party in the ATL but a great place to kick back relax and drink with some friends without the BS of ever other place. No lines, no waiting- just drinking.
The also serve food until late and brunch on the weekends starting at 11:00am-never a wait.
