Veni Vidi Vici

Always a good cool-not the hippest restaurant in town but a good old fancy favorite. Entrees in the $20s. Definitely a favorite for lunch and a first date. Meet at the bar and then enjoy a wonderful gourmet meal at a reasonably gourmet price.

Taurus

Great consistent venue hidden away on the third floor across from Wolfgang Puck's but boasts a great vibe, fantastic menu and courteous wait staff not so ordinary here in Atlanta. Thursday nights come out for live Latin music on the patio. Restaurant open for lunch and dinner.

Cypress St. Plate and Pint

Just opened in the old location of Toast which always had a great location and cool design but it was never busy and the food never really delivered. The new addition is great for pregaming before walking to Halo which is right around the corner.

Beleza
|
Great new restaurant from the owners of Fritti and Sotto Sotto, with a great, very fresh tapas menu but it is higher class than the others and a little more expensive, but the vibe is right and DJs can be heard most nights of the week. Definitely stop in for a drink and maybe a little appetizer. now you can also check out their new sister restaurant next door, Cuerno.

Cuerno

Great new restaurant from the owner's next door at Beleza. Come check out the hottest new restaurant just opened last week. Great tapas and entree menu, but again, they are looking for midtown prices as opposed to their fourth ward gems Fritti and Sotto Sotto. Great a drink, check out the menu and let me know if you agree with the trendy atmosphere. You can step up the night by swinging by Beleza right next door.

An exquisite culinary experience with exotic fusion dishes and a very cool space, but very loud for a first date-better for a second or third or a double date.

Top Flr
|
Singly the coolest little find in midtown for a evening with friends for a group of four or a intimate meal with someone special-open even late night. Top Flr only have about 20 seats upstairs so reservations are strongly encouraged and if you are trying it on a Friday or Saturday night you are going to wait, but there is a very cool bar downstairs while you wait.

Awesome location and great design by local GATech Architecture professor Marc Cottle. Cool bar scene most nights of the week just after 7:00pm, but you will throw down, especially if you drink like my dates do-goodness. Sit at the bar, hit the dining room or head out to the patio.

Mary Macs
|
If it is your first time into this trip back to old Atlanta, tell the waitress you need a little bowl of potlicker to begin. This is good old country food, very inexpensive and Mary Mac's is classic for taking family or friends who are in from out of town. Established in 1945 this is one of the few remaining old gems around the city-not the greatest culinary delight but a delight all around.

Rusans Midtown
|
Get your Sushi and Saki Bombs in the same sitting. Rusans MIDTOWN is located just Southeast of the intersection of Monroe and Piedmont. Smaller than the Buckhead location, but what makes up for it with sheer excitement. Techno background drowned out by Saki Bomb cheers. Bring your crew, 4-6 people easily accomodated, and you won't break the bank. Strong social atmosphere; you're not alone at Rusan's.
