Restaurants in East Atlanta/Little 5

Six Feet Under

Sitting just west of the Boulevard on Memorial Drive, Six Feet Under provides fantastic food and lively atmosphere. The neighborhood fish restaurant has a spectacular roof deck and is a perfect spot to come for a first date. Seared tuna or the Shrimp PoBoy can never go wrong here. They get a crowd daily so get your party there early for parking spots.

Wisteria

Great fine dining restaurant with a neighborhood feel-I never get in and out of there without running into a few people I know. Wonderful food and great place for special occasions or family affair, unless you can afford it every week, then by all means-as there are a few who do, and they are never bored by the ever-changing menu and specials.

Agave

Great little restaurant on a main thoroughfare in the hidden little area of Cabbagetown. Agave has been open for 7 years now and is pretty much reservation only on the weekends but more open during the week and a very unique restaurant. Entrees are $14-20. After dinner take a stroll up the street to Village Pizza, Carol street Cafe or grab a drink at the neighborhood bar(recently opened)

P'Cheen

Having lived in the Fourth Ward pre-Highland Walk, the only part of the development I like is P'Cheen. P'Cheen is a very unique international Bistro and Pub with a foreign flare and local neighborhood feel. Great for a date or drinks late at night.

The Depot

The Depot features casual gourmet fare and signature spirits in a comfortable, unique atmosphere. The restaurant, located at 904 Memorial Drive, is housed in a former historic rail line depot that was beautifully restored to provide a truly unique atmosphere. NightCap Food and Spirits worked hard to bring this incredible building back to life with an electric, fun environment that provides a backdrop for many memorable dining and nightlife experiences.

Vickery's

Vickery's is an original staple in the Midtown Atlanta scene for the past 25 years. It is still the place to get a good stiff drink, comfort food and have a great time. With another location in Atlanta and two more in Charleston, the popularity of this establishment just keeps on growing!

Parish

Just opened How did this gem of a building sit empty so long. this is a fabo renovation but the restaurant itself is an interesting idea-restaurant upstairs, market downstairs. there are no menus just daily food offerings posted on a blackboard-so bring your glasses. It is a concentric restaurant who are great restauranteurs but too bad it wasn't a mom and pop place. Check it out and let me know what you think...

Rathbun's

The first of two great restaurants by chef and proprieter Kevin Rathbun is on Krog Street and do not be confused, the two restaurants are just blocks from one another and share names, so make sure you know which one you are heading to. Rathbun's is less expensive than Steak but fabulous with interior designed by local restaurant interior designer Bill Johnson-I even bumped into him one night there.

Rathbun's Steak

Second edition from Kevin Rathbun to infiltrate the once hood-esque, now tredding because of IPV, Fourth Ward is now a great place to dine. If you are weak in the wallet, you can sit at the bar and order the best 14$ burger you've ever had, and probably the only one, otherwise be ready to throw down but enjoy one of the coolest interiors, best atmosphere, fantastic wine list and exquisite menu around. Steak is almost gaining recognition nationwide as one of the top ten steak houses.

Cantina La Casita

This hole in the wall serves up some of the best Mexican in the city but is small and gets packed on Wednesday-Saturday night so come with a small crew or expect ot wait a while. Great for lunch and happy hour margaritas.

Fritti

Fantastic date restaurant-this was my old routine- street parking has become extinct in the past two years and now you must valet but Fritti is the coolest pizza dining in the city. The bar is small so no guarantees on getting a seat while you wait but Fritti does take reservations. I love Fritti for a first or second date because you can head there at 7:00pm, grab a drink eat dinner and then walk over to Dad's Garage for some improv comedy but this is only on a Friday or Saturday night-see Dad's Garage Click here

Il Localino

By far the absolute greatest hidden secret in Atlanta for a special date or a group, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Great food, pricey, but great food and the atmosphere is out of this world-literally-I can not give you all the info without ruining the surprises-you just have to check it out. This is the best Italian restaurant in town considering ambiance, attitude, and atmosphere. You can valet next to Wisteria or I can always find on-street parking within a couple of blocks. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be shocked and stunned. Not a place for quiet conservative folks-take the crew who loves to stir it up.

LottaFrutta

The throwback to the little neighborhood restaurant/sandwich shop/smoothie place is an adorable little corner spot located at Johnson and Auburn in the Old Fourth Ward, just off of Edgewood and Boulevard. Definitely a place to check out if you are cruising around the area and want a bite to eat without any BS or if you are nursing a hangover and need a phat smoothie. 404.588.0857 Open everyday from 7am until 5pm
